NSW: Four arrested over cannabis plants

Police have charged four men after the discovery of cannabis plants with a street value
of more than $3.5 million on the New South Wales north coast.

Officers from Strikeforce SCALP have destroyed 1,776 cannabis plants with an estimated
street value of $3,552,000.

The raids were launched on Monday and were timed to coincide with the cannabis growing season.

Police concentrated on areas where commercial amounts of the plant were believed to be growing.

The arrested men have been bailed to appear in Murwillumbah Local Court on December
22 on charges of cultivating prohibited crops.

A police spokesman says the arrests follow a lengthy intelligence-gathering operation.
